journaling: When I was pregnant with you, your father and I went through a couple of name books to help determine your name. We both kept a list that we did on our own and later sat down together to compare notes. We exchanged lists and circled any name that was also on our list or a name that we did not have but liked. We had quite a few girl names we agreed upon: Taylor, Ashley, Danielle; but not boy names. Justin was the only name on both of our lists. I laughed when I looked at your Dad’s list. The first name was Drew. I responded with, “We are not going to name our son after Purdue’s ex-quarterback.” The second name was Brandon. I responded with, “We are not naming our son after Purdue’s current quarterback.” Your dad responded with, “Darn didn’t think you knew that one.” Truth be told Illinois’ current quarterback was also named Brandon so I could have let that one slip – but at that point it was principle. Next we had to decide on a middle name that flowed well with Justin and Lynch. I suggested Josef after my father and the middle name of your Grandpa Lynch. Your dad ruined that suggestion by quickly calling you JJ. I said, we are not calling you JJ. Your dad was convinced that once you played sports the kids would start calling you by your initials. Honestly, I think that’s just a Beverly thing where your dad grew up. Finally, I suggested Patrick. We both thought it flowed well. Plus, I was able to live with JP, which so far you have never been called. We started calling you by your name the minute we found out you were a boy. However I was convinced you were a boy from the minute I found out I was pregnant. I love your name I hope you do too. Justin - Latin Origin, Inherent Meaning: Upright, Spiritual Connotation: Righteous / Patrick - Welsh Origin, Inherent Meaning: Nobleman, Spiritual Connotation: Victorious
