That Building

Journaling: My dad was a supervisor for construction. Specifically Cement Finishing. When I was a child he used to take me on side jobs and I would help him with the forms and take things to and from the truck.

He worked on tons of building in the Chicagoland area: some as big as the Sear’s Tower and some as small as the cement work on my house. When we used to drive past something he worked on he used to point it out: specifically this Osco on Central and Lawrence. Every time we drove past it he would say I worked on the Osco. It got to the point that I would sarcastically say before the corner, “Hey dad did you work on that Osco?” Now that he’s gone, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive part one of those buildings or some of the work he did on my house.
