Journaling: We had promised Justin and Kevin that we would get together to go sledding before winter was over. It turned out that the only weekend that would work was January 19, 2008, when the weather was below zero. So we drove up to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Uncle Danny, Aunt Liz, Kevin, and Maggie’s house.
Uncle Danny built any incredible toboggan run in their back yard. It started half way down the hill and extended onto the frozen lake (it was over a foot of ice). He built a wood platform to get down to the lake. He covered it with carpet so the snow would stick to it. Dan brought the snow blower down to the lake so he could build walls for the path. It was a very impressive run. Tim, Dan, and Grandpa Lynch spent hours perfecting it. Shoveling, snow blowing, and wetting the path for extra speed – something Liz and I were happy without.
We had such a fun time. The weather was cold but it didn’t feel that bad with all our layers and being shielded from the wind.
Uncle Danny got the record for the furthest slide – 95 feet!
